{Mothers & Daughters}

Last Saturday in Washington DC, more than 500,000 people—women, children and men, but mostly women—peacefully gathered to stand up for a kinder conversation in our political arena...for more thoughtful interactions with each other...for a gentler and more open-minded society. There was not one arrest!

There were many mothers and daughters marching together...not only in Washington DC, but all over the world. No longer will women's voices not be heard! It's time, they said.

Thanks to "The Cut" for sharing their lovely video:
"Mothers and Daughters March Together."

And thank you to this beautiful little girl in the above photograph and whomever shared her glorious image! Indeed: "Little girls with dreams become Women with vision."

One more! Great gratitude to this little daughter below with her handmade sign—you know whatever it says, it's full of love!

{With Poise and Grace}

As planners of elegant events in Washington DC, Maria Baer and Kelly Seizert, the two lovely young women owners of Ritzy Bee Events, shared how they do many events on "both sides of the aisle" and have observed and learned a great deal the last eight years.

I love Maria's comment from the past "inaugural" weekend on Ritzy Bee's Instagram page, in a beautiful acknowledgement of Michelle and Barack Obama—and isn't this what life is really all about?

The influence from witnessing two parents carrying the weight of the world on their shoulders while raising their daughters with such poise and grace has also left a mark. Realizing how necessary it is to teach our girls inclusion, fairness, dignity and compassion is what I am most grateful for.

Yes! Thank you to the Obamas for their kind-hearted eloquence of spirit!

{Message from London}

There were many fabulous and courageous images this past weekend from the Women's Marches around the world. But as a fashion historian and lover of vintage costumes, this image from London just may be my favorite! You go Girls!!

Let's intend our daughters and granddaughters will not need to march for basic human rights, but only to share the love! xoxo

(And my favorite line from a reportera young man with the Huffington Postat the scene in Washington DC: "There's a lot of love in the air!")

{We've Created a Monster}

Spiritual counselor, psychic and author, Ainslie MacLeod—with messages from his high-level spirit guides—gently and lovingly explains life, love and people (including the election!) through terms of "young souls" and "old souls"...and their/our spiritual development. His work encourages us to "live the life your soul intended."

So his essay, "Trumpenstein: We Have Created a Monster," is not to be missed!
It begins with a quote from Mary Shelley's novel spoken by Frankenstein's Monster: "If I cannot inspire love, I will cause fear."
(Ainslie also shares a "soul reading" of Donald Trump and how "his conscious self separated from his soul by a closed heart chakra....")

Our job? Stay positive, keep our hearts open, and take a stand for love, peace, truth and justice! Quoting Ainslie: "When fear is eliminated, all that’s left is love."

"How Shonda Rhimes Got Her Joy Back" by Neil Parmar for OZY is a look into "the most powerful woman in TV" ...and her passions, work ethic, creative inspirations, family life, relationship with her daughters....and the meaning of "play."

"...for a woman who vulnerably acknowledges she would have rather been busy at work than busy at home," during her 2016 TED Talk, then faced the harsh consequences to her own creative juices and to her daughters....Neil shares that this is "why it's worth listening to how this work addict triggered a transformation."

Listen to Shonda's transformative TED Talk, "My Year of Saying Yes to Everything"...including how she started to slow down and go play with her daughters!

{Acknowledging Women in Your Life}

"In farewell speech, President Obama delivers poignant remarks about Michelle and daughters," wrote Women in the World staff writers for the New York Times

"....for the past 25 years, you have not only been my wife and mother of my children, you have been my best friend," Mr. Obama said to Michelle. And to his daughters: "Of all that I've done in my life, I'm most proud to be your dad."

The article has a link to the President's entire address....

This is how you speak with grace....and this is how you honor women.

{"Take your broken heart and make it into art."}

"Meryl Streep gave a career-defining speech Sunday night after receiving the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the Golden Globes...discouraging the socially regressive rhetoric that President-elect Donald Trump promotes," reported Matthew Jacobs in Huffington Post.
You can read "Queen Meryl's" entire speech as well as an eloquent response by Viola Davis after her Golden Globe win in the article. Meryl ended by quoting her late friend, Carrie Fisher, who once told her: "Take your broken heart and make it into art."

{Divine Feminine}

Dr. Kelly Brogan wrote in her article "Feminism and the Election: The Gift of Acceleration" for women not to be duped by feminism from a "masculine principle" which promotes an "illusion of our sovereignty as we float more and more distantly away from the creative power, from cosmic feminine energy, from the great divine mother...."

{Talking to Daughters With Respect for All}

I appreciated an article that was published on Yahoo.com soon after the presidential election in November featuring a series of interviews with President Obama conducted by The New Yorker's David Remnick.

The focus was how the president talked to his teen-age daughters, Sasha and Malia, about the outcome of the election and about a man who had spoken so viciously about him, so crudely about women, so maliciously about the disabled, and who had so little respect for telling the truth.

Once again, President Obama, an articulate and thoughtful man, focused on "kindness and respect and understanding."

What I say to them is that people are complicated. Societies and cultures are really complicated…This is not mathematics; this is biology and chemistry. These are living organisms, and it’s messy. And your job as a citizen and as a decent human being is to constantly affirm and lift up and fight for treating people with kindness and respect and understanding. And you should anticipate that at any given moment there’s going to be flare-ups of bigotry that you may have to confront, or may be inside you and you have to vanquish. And it doesn’t stop…You don’t get into a fetal position about it. You don’t start worrying about apocalypse. You say, O.K., where are the places where I can push to keep it moving forward.

"The President’s words can certainly help in a time when many parents are wondering how to talk to their children about what the future holds in the face of a Trump administration," Remnick remarked.

{The US Election and A Course in Miracles}

James Twyman speaks about the "US Election and A Course in Miracles" on this YouTube recording....and how "the entire spiritual path of life can be brought down in three words: surrender, trust and gratitude."
The "ACIM" lesson he offers is titled "I Do Not Know What Anything Is For"....

Also Corinne Zupko offers in her "ACIM" study group video on YouTube: "Trump Election, A Course in Miracles, and an opportunity for Healing" as a way to "deepen your peace...."
